History of Webcomics Collector

In early june 2004 I finally had enough of Dailystrips. Way too often it couldn't find the newest strip, couldn't download a strip at all or just plain didn't work. Writing defs for it wasn't exactly easy and only with webcomics using date-naming of strip-images was it possible to download the archive.

I decided I would look around for a replacement but couldn't find any that satisfied me (I didn't find Dosage at the time, I only found that after having made Webcomics Collector). Since nothing seemed to be able to do things the way I wanted, I sat down and made my own.

After a few days of almost non-stop coding the script that does the actual work of downloading strips was stable enough that I named it version 0.1. After more extensive tests some features was found to be missing and version 0.2 was created. A day or two after that 0.3 was made collecting a bunch of bugfixes.

When 0.1 was just about done I started writing the webinterface which was done in PHP to reach as large an audience as possible. (God PHP sucks compared to Python!).
